Russian plane disappears in demonstration flight in Indonesia

this is really weird.

Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) -- Russia's newest civilian airliner disappeared Wednesday from radar screens during a half-hour demonstration flight in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, state-run RIA Novosti news service reported.

There were 44 passengers on board.

The plane went missing at about 2 p.m. in the area of Bogor, West Java, Indonesian Transportation Ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan told Metro TV.

The pilots requested permission to descend from 10,000 feet to 6,000 feet, air traffic controllers said. After that, all radio contact was lost.

The plane began making its descent but vanished from radar screens at 6,200 feet in a mountainous area.

I am waiting for the list of names of the passengers.

It is said they were some very high powered/influential political whatever big wigs on board.

Looks like it smacked into the side of that mountain.

Falling from the sky explains the lack of gas to keep flying issue.

Again I wonder who was on that plane that was of importance.

Re "elites" fleeing - I think there's a noticeable pattern of them increasingly trying to gain residency in NZ, buying up farms etc.   A lot of them already have "holiday homes" here.  It seems NZ may be one of the favoured bug-out locations of the rich-listers.   Maybe it's just because we're small, remote, peaceful, obscure....or maybe they're heading down here for another reason.

the biggest thing this is going to do is to really hurt the russian aircraft industry,
there is  lots of money in the aircraft business
