About that 'ET' in the Opening Ceremony...

There's been video of it all over the place, so I won't bother posting.  Some people are postulating it was the Goodyear blimp.   I didn't watch it so I'm asking those who did, was there video from ABOVE the fireworks that would have had to have been taken from the area where the 'blimp'/UFO was hovering?

Anybody?

Then again on second thought ...This..

1. The blimp was grounded for the fireworks(gee, wonder why)
2. The blimp had flashing lights and lit up logo.
3. The blimp wasn't shaped like a ufo or spinning orb.
4. No flights from the "airport" or otherwise are allowed in the airspace.

If we could just get 'official' confirmation that the blimp WAS NOT grounded for the fireworks that sort of solves it doesn't it?

Oh, the humanity!

Seriously, I love this kinda shit.  Would have made for quite the fancy re-enactment of the Hindenberg if it had been hit by the fireworks, exploded, and fallen on the scene below.

So, I take it, no one is declaring that any blimp, or anything looking somewhat like a blimp, was overhead during this and claiming 'credit'?

Edited to add, that French video is interesting.  They zoomed in to take the blimpie/UFO out of the field of vision, and then the last part with the searchlights looks an awful lot like the Battle of Los Angeles scene... grin

Update!  Goodyear says it was them.  Sorta.  Five days later.

Why this odd comment, "I can't speak to what else was in the air, but the blimp was certainly up there during the fireworks..."?

Go to the yahoo news page---they have an article on the Closing Ceremony. The picture shown is of the stadium floodlights and the configuration with the lights on looks exactly like the slanted eyes of the Greys!!

eric, yeah, there seemed to be so many shapes which looked like UFO's, aliens, pyramids, eyes etc.

Then what the HELL were the Pet Shop Boy's wearing?   As someone said, it looked like a black KKK.

Then there was Annie Lennox looking like some kind of satanic, black angel......just so much more weirdness.

Dancing zombies?

Last week I e-mailed Goodyear, asking about how it was possible that they took off their logo for the duration of the Olympic games. I purposely didn't ask about 'was that you?' over the stadium during the fireworks.  Finally got a response, copied here in full.  She didn't say ANYthing about an overflight at the stadium or the UFO controversy, which I find interesting in and of itself.

Hi ______, Thanks for your e-mail via our website, and please accept my apologies for the slight delay in my response. Thank you for your comments and we fully appreciate your thoughts and feelings on the matter of our Blimp providing footage to NBC for the Olympic Games. The logo on the side of our ship is created with the use of stickers and so is surprisingly easy to remove and replace. You can see a 'making of' video on the following link: http://www.goodyearblimp.co.uk/ The relationship we had with the Olympics Committee was only through NBC, the American broadcaster, we did not enter into any discussions with the Olympics Committee directly. This was not possible at the point of time when we knew we would have the blimp during the Olympics in London. We did not confirm that we would be appearing at the games until a couple of months prior when NBC started discussions with us and our camera platform. we felt very privileged to be asked to provide footage of the games but obviously had to comply with the sponsorship and advertising rules and regulations in place by the Olympics Committee by removing our logo from our Blimp. Our Blimp has now finished its tour of the UK for 2012 and will be 'deflated' this week. I hope this helps/gives you some context, but of course I realise it doesn't change the fact that we did not donate a cash sum to the Olympics, this is something I do not feel we can change at this point. Many thanks for your comments. Kind Regards Kate Rock _____________________________ Consumer & Brand PR Manager Goodyear Dunlop Tyres UK Ltd 0121 306 6609 07831834800
